Bright Wings

Original Painting
Pastel on Paper 24 x 18

A red rose needs no introduction from me.
I was drawn to this one because of the interesting aspect....as if peering into her heart from the side.

Her title comes from a poem called 'God's Grandeur', by Gerard Manley Hopkins. I studied his poems at school many years ago, and while I appreciated them at the time, they now sing to me.

She appeared to be opening so unapologetically, brazen almost.
I got a real kick out of diving into those purples for the outer petals.

Every single one of my original paintings has been professionally digitally scanned to create high quality prints.
